The mission if the critical care unit is to provide specialized nursing care for those who require frequent nursing observation and intervention in a team oriented environment.
Nurse’s Role
The RN provides all aspects of patient care in collaboration with Clerk/Patient Care Technicians. The critical care unit nurse uses keen assessment skills and critical thinking to quickly interpret and intervene to address changes. We foster a positive team environment with our ancillary departments in order to provide a positive experience for all involved in our patients care.
Inside The Units
Critical Care is administered at four locations within the Nebraska Medical Center:
- 20- bed Adult Intensive Care Unit that specializes in transplant and trauma patients
- 12- bed Adult Intensive Care Unit that specializes in the care of the cardiovascular patients
- 12- bed Adult Intensive Care Unit that specializes in the care of the medical surgical patients
