When injuries have healed but the pain remains and all other forms of therapy have been exhausted, the Pain Management Program at The Nebraska Medical Center is the only multi-disciplinary pain center in the region. When medications, injections, physical therapy and chiropractic services have not proven to be successful, the Pain Management Program at The Nebraska Medical Center offers innovative treatment.

The Pain Management Program at The Nebraska Medical Center specializes in chronic, nonmalignant pain that has not been alleviated effectively through traditional therapies, including medical, surgical and pharmacological interventions. The Pain Management Program offers a four-week program involving a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals who work together to develop an effective pain management program that incorporates psychological management of pain as well as techniques such as biofeedback, mediation and relaxation.

The program involves techniques and treatments designed to utilize the most recent nervous system science retraining the nervous sustem to be less responsive to pain triggers. While in the program, patients learn coping skills and techniques to better manage pain throughout their daily lives so that they may return to activities associated with family, school or work. Our team of chronic pain management specialists includes clinical psychologists, physical therapists, nurses, physician pain specialists and neurosurgeons.
