Urinary Tract Interventions

Nephrostomy
When there is a blockage of urine flow between the kidney and bladder, the interventional radiologist places a tube into the kidney so that the urine can be drained out into a bag.

Ureteral stent
Some blockages in the ureter require placement of a stent. This involves placing a tube that runs between the kidney and the bladder across the
blocked ureter.

Ureteral dilatation
Sometimes a blocked ureter may be opened by threading a small balloon into the area over a wire and then inflated.
